The Seeger Girls Cross Country team split up their squad to gain some experience for the top runners, while giving the younger runners a chance to shine! Putting both squads times together, the team was easily the top small school in attendance!
In the Big School division, Jennifer Romero, Allison High, and Libby Smith showed HUGE improvements from last year’s race, both in time and place. They got out to a slow start over the first 2k and found themselves in 39th, 41st, and 60th place. They had to work hard over the next 3k to fight their way up to 20th, 34th and 44th overall!
In the Small School Division, Seeger saw 3 girls finish in the top 30 overall. Nataleigh Yarborough had a great PR getting under the 23:00 mark for the first time and placed 20th. Leah Kirkpatrick placed 27th with a solid run after having some breathing issues, and Avah Watson had another 1:00 drop nearly breaking the 24-minute mark to place 30th. Berlyn Guminski had a huge PR with a nice time of 25:25 to come in 44th while Lauren McBride rounded out the scoring group with a 59th place showing. The squad finished 6th out of 12 teams in this division without the top 3 runners.
The full group will get the chance for redemption on Thursday, as they face 2 of the top schools in the small division from Saturday’s race.
