The girls came to Sectionals ready for the challenge last night!

The night started out with a dominate win in the 4x800m Relay. Jennifer Romero (2:33.8) and Libby Smith (2:36.2) led the way for Kaileigh Pruitt and Allison High to be able to coast in for the win with a near Season Best of 10:32.89. They are looking forward to making a run at the school record next week at Regionals!

Kaileigh Pruitt did not miss any heights leading up to 4′ 8″ in the High Jump. 7 girls all cleared 4′ 6″, but only 2 cleared 4′ 8″. Due to her ability to not miss before this, she was able to tie for 3rd to move on next week!

Jennifer Romero had a SB in the 1600 of 5:36.80 to take 3rd by 7 seconds, but opted to scratch next week to try for the 3200m school record!

Kaileigh Pruitt just missed 2nd (.01 seconds) in the 400m with a PR of 64.18 seconds to advance to Regionals. Lauren McBride ran a PR of 73.30 in the 1st heat for 11th place!

Isabelle Puterbaugh ran very hard in the 300m Hurdles and, after stumbling over the last hurdle, crawled across the line to take 3rd and advance to Regionals! She still managed to run a 53.60 with that fall!

In the 800, another epic battle ensued between Allison High and Sarah Saliji. Allison barely lost to Sara by .03 seconds to take 2nd and advance to Regionals.

In the 3200m run, Romero (12:05.29) and Smith (12:22.91) both dropped 10 seconds of their PR’s to take 2nd and 3rd, as they seemed to dominate the race behind multiple time state runner Maggie Gutwein from Twin Lakes. The rest of the field was over 150m behind!

The 4x400m race came up quick, and while other teams had scratched a number of runners to try to advance, our legs were tired. Paige Leonard had a phenomenal split (69.6) to help the team place 3rd, 7 seconds ahead of 4th, to advance to Regionals next week!

Although no others advanced, there were a number of great performances last night:

Isabelle Puterbaugh (8th) set a PR in the Long Jump (non-wind-aided) of 13′ 8″.
Kendal Knosp (7th) had a Season Best of 82′ 8″ in the Discus.
MacKinley Cooksey took 6th with a PR of 29′ 0″ in the Shot Put.
Leonard ran a great time in the 100m and 200m, just missing her PR’s in both.
Georgianna Wallpe ran a PR in the 100m (14.98).
Makayla Martin ran her 2nd best time in the 200m.
and Berlyn Guminski ran a very good time in the 100m Hurdles.
